Our Story
The Blowrods originally formed back in the 1973 in a small town near Loch Lowemon, Scotland. As legend has it, Rock Hard & Rock Solid were on their way home from an Ike and Tina Turner concert when they saw a spaceship crash. They went over an investigated the crash site and the found a large jolly Alien named Gayton. Gayton told them that he had come to Earth to find the Budweiser Brewery in Newark NJ. But had run out of gas, and lost control of his flying saucer. The boys told him not to worry, that they had plenty of beer in Scotland, just not Budweiser. Gayton, now lacking a spacecraft, had no other choice but to stay.
As the story goes, the lads would meet at a local tavern, YeOle Bazooka's, every Friday night. After a few pints of beer, the boys would pick up their acoustic guitars and play old show tune favorites for the local town folk. It wasn't until they discovered tube amplifiers, back in the late 1990's, that they made the obvious transition from show tunes to punk rock. Since then they have followed their dreams of trying to make it Big. They relocated to the hot bed of punk rock, Central New Jersey, Friday night, down at the local print shop.
